Everyone is on their own unique path in life, and sometimes our paths may present challenges, barriers, or be completely covered in brush. Therapy helps us manage our path more easily than by walking it alone.  How?  Therapy can help us identify and process emotions, develop skills, identify triggers, connect us, and help us create a plan.  Maybe you are struggling with losing a loved one, maybe you want to overcome a fear, or maybe you are just having a hard time finding joy in life.  Therapy can help you work through your thoughts, feelings, and emotions so that you can grow your skills and develop a plan for using them to conquer current struggles and future struggles which may arise on your path.

We are located in the Onyx Building at 1400 Walnut in Downtown Des Moines.  Meter parking is available on Walnut, with free parking behind the building in a gravel lot.  Please text our office number when you arrive.  We will meet you at the office door at your appointment time.  A map of our location is here.

  • At Cascade Clinical, you should expect a clinical environment that is safe, compassionate, and empathetic.
  • Our only goal is to help you. This looks different depending on the day or the need.  Sometimes this may mean that we provide space to hold uncomfortable feelings and process though them.  Or this may mean we will challenge you from time to time so you can grow a coping skill, learn a new strategy, or challenge an intrusive thought.
  • Therapy is a process – it takes time and effort over the course of multiple therapy sessions.
  • It is important that you feel safe enough to show up as you are – to be vulnerable and open regarding your feelings and struggles. In order to do this, you want to find a therapist you can connect with and feel safe with.  We will work to establish this safe relationship with you, but we know that everyone connects differently, so if you need something different, we are happy to help connect you to another therapist who can meet your needs.

We accept Blue Cross, United, and Cigna.  Our private pay rate is $100.  At your first appointment, we will discuss automatic payment options.

Every precaution is taken to keep our office safe. The space is cleaned in between appointments, facemasks are offered upon request, and appointments are rescheduled if our staff are showing symptoms consistent with a COVID-19 diagnosis or have tested positive.  If you are showing symptoms or have tested positive for COVID-19, please call to reschedule your appointment.

  • Your first appointment will include an introduction to therapy, including our policies, frequency of appointments, and techniques used. We will spend the majority of the session getting to know each other, which means we will ask a number of background questions to help guide us in developing a treatment plan with you.  It is helpful if you have thoughts on what you hope to get out of therapy, but that is not necessary.  We can discuss this together.
  • You may feel awkward at your first few appointments. That is totally normal.  We don’t often get a chance to sit down and spend time on our feelings and emotions, let alone talk about them out loud.  Many emotions may arise at those first few appointments.  We all have different responses to therapy.  Our office is a safe space to experience these emotions.  We can hold that space for you, so just let go.
